Of course, the fourth movement is famous for its variations of Schubert’s earlier Lied "The Trout", but the work as a whole is a jewel of well-ordered beauty and solitary reverie. The theme of the Wanderer, the legendary solitary traveller of the world singing its melancholy, is also developed in the Fantasia for four hands in Fminor.
