Programmation

Written at the turn of the century, in 1899, Schönberg's Transfigured Night is one of his earliest works. Post-Romantic, it is deeply influenced by Wagner and Brahms, the Viennese Secession of Klimt and Schiele, and the poetry of Richard Dehmel. While Brahms's music doesn't carry this revolutionary madness and fire, it did nevertheless profoundly inspire this impetus, while at the same time being, like Clara Schumann's work, deeply rooted in its time.
