Programmation

The young Austrian Van Swietens ensemble takes its name from the famous Habsburg baron Gottfried van Swieten, a great friend and patron of Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven, and himself a talented composer. In their first French concert, the ensemble offers us a magnificent programme centred on The Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross, Joseph Haydn's masterpiece, composed in 1786 for the Good Friday service at the Santa Cueva church in Cadiz, Spain.
