  Georges Cziffra, Founder of the Festival de La Chaise-Dieu

The Festival's history dates back to1966. That year, on the initiative of Dr. Georges Mazoyer, of his wife Suzanne and a few other music lovers, including Paul Perrin, Jean-Paul Dessaigne and Jaky Crossignani, the first edition of the Festival consistedof a single concert by the famous Hungarian pianist Gyorgy Cziffra, accompanied by his son,conducting theColonneOrchestra.

For many years, the Festival was built around Cziffra, and lasted justa weekend.
